The Pony Club Association of the Northern Territory

Pony Club in the NT creates a safe environment to have fun, stretch boundaries and make memories for all.

PCANT is the Northern Territory branch of the Pony Club Association of Australia. PCANT strives to keep on the forefront of current coaching, training and riding methods, with safety as the foremost drive.

Pony Club was founded in England in 1929. The first recorded Pony Club was formed in Australia in Ingleburn, New South Wales in 1938 by Mrs Marjory Hirst. There are currently 5 Pony Clubs in the Northern Territory: Darwin Horse and Pony Club, Noonamah Horse and Pony Club, Litchfield Horse and Pony Club, Katherine Horse and Pony Club and Alice Springs Pony Club.

Pony Club has been in the Northern Territory since early 1960’s.

  • Pony Club teaches young riders to not only ride but care for their horse

Our aim and involvement in Darwin and Beyond

PCANT works with all Horse and Pony Clubs around the NT to help with their events via training, documentation, access to contacts, and ensuring the events fall within set guidelines.

We send members of our board to meetings and training sessions around Australia to ensure that we have the highest level of instruction, safety and documentation from the Australian association. This allows us to host high class events, certify and grade riders, and conduct training in a highly professional and safe manner.

Our Team

We regularly have our team attend courses Australia wide to keep up to date with current policies and procedure to ensure the highest level of training and safety within the Horse and Pony Club community.

We have a great team of volunteers that put their time and effort in tirelessly, to provide the best possible experience at all events possible.

Our Qualified Team

We are still working on creating great content and expanding our webpage even further to include even more for our community!

As for the video above, we are working on a small highlight reel to show off some of our favorite events and moments of the last year! We are sad to say that it isn’t finished yet – so in the meantime, check out this great video!

Our Events

With every event we help coordinate, organise, or hold ourselves, we do our best to make it safe and memorable. We have trained judges, adjudicators, coaches and trainers – and this reflects wholly in our events.
